High Street, Swansea Family Housing Association

This contract involved the demolition of an existing building on one of the main routes into the centre of Swansea, in close vicinity to the train station. The contract involved close links with an archaeologist throughout the excavation stage due to it’s location adjacent to an old graveyard. The building was of traditional construction with concrete beam and block floors. The external façade included glazed panels and a rendered finish.

The property was constructed for use as supported housing for vulnerable occupants, therefore all internal fittings were of a high specification due to the nature of the end user. These included underfloor heating, fully computer controlled heating and electrical system, trace hot water heating, lift, flood detectors, and a Photovoltaic system on the roof. The end user was highly delighted with the finished scheme, which exceeded expectations with very high quality.

Based at the heart of Swansea’s innovative SA1 area, this new build development comprises of 80 fully serviced apartments overlooking the Maritime Quarter. The 4, 5 and 6 storey block have a timber framed structure with single ply membrane mono pitched roofs, Scandinavian composite aluminium/pine windows and walk on steel and glass balconies.

There is also one-to-one car parking achieved by a secure underground car park. Heating and hot water is provided to each apartment from a central boiler. Combined with other energy products, this development achieved the Eco Homes “Good” standard. This was also the first development on SA1 to achieve “Secured by Design” certification awarded by the local police force.

This project of 54 apartments is located in the Maritime Quarter of Swansea’s SA1 Development. Comprising 3 blocks of 4 storey apartments complete with timber sliding sun screens, basement parking and landscaped communal areas.

This project was undertaken for Gwalia Housing Group to provide executive style accommodation at the heart of Swansea’s ‘new exclusive address’. Heating and hot water is provided to each apartment from the central boiler plant and combined with other energy saving products, this development achieved the Eco Homes ‘Good’ standard. Due to close liaison with the local police, this development also achieved ‘Secured by Design’ certification.
